Mana Moves

At Ōtāhuhu Intermediate School, Mana Moves are the everyday actions that bring our school values to life. They show how students can lift the mana of themselves, others, and our kura through positive choices, respectful relationships, readiness to learn, and care for our environment.

What Mana Moves Look Like

Our Map to Excellence shows what Mana Moves look like in action across different parts of school life. These include:

Ako Spaces – how we learn and participate positively in class

Kaitiakitanga – how we care for our environment and school spaces

Whanaungatanga – how we build positive friendships and relationships

Kia Rite – how we are ready, organised, and responsible for ourselves

This helps students understand the clear, positive behaviours that support learning, belonging, and success.

Mana Moves Leadership Council

Mana Moves also connects to our Mana Moves Leadership Council. These student leaders help strengthen positive behaviour across the school by role-modelling our values, encouraging others, supporting their peers, and helping create a culture where everyone feels valued, included, and ready to learn.

Leading With Mana

Through Mana Moves, students are not only learning about positive behaviour — they are learning to lead it, live it, and use it wherever they go.
