Tabloid Sports

Tabloid Sports

Every Thursday during Period 5 in Terms 1 and 4, our school comes alive with Tabloid Sports.

Tabloid Sports is a fast-paced, inclusive, and high-energy rotation of fun physical activities. Unlike traditional competitive sport, the focus is on participation, teamwork, and having fun. It is a highlight of our school week, where every student gets moving and has the opportunity to be involved.

What Tabloid Sports Builds

Inclusion for AllActivities are designed so that every student, regardless of sporting ability, can participate, contribute to their team, and experience success.

Syndicate ConnectionStudents work alongside others in their syndicate, building a strong sense of belonging, making new connections, and strengthening our school community.

Student LeadershipTabloid Sports provides valuable leadership opportunities. Our Sports Leaders help set up activities and support our Specialist PE/Health Teacher, while students within each syndicate team have opportunities to step up, lead activities, encourage others, and motivate their peers.

Supporting Student Wellbeing

Our Tabloid Sports programme supports the Te Whare Tapa Whā model of wellbeing, helping students grow across all four walls of health.

Taha Tinana – Physical WellbeingStudents get active, develop movement skills, build fitness, and burn energy in a positive way.

Taha Hinengaro – Mental and Emotional WellbeingStudents build confidence, reduce stress, and experience the joy of play.

Taha Whānau – Social WellbeingStudents learn the value of teamwork, inclusion, cooperation, and connecting with others outside of the classroom.

Taha Wairua – Spiritual WellbeingStudents build identity, school pride, and a sense of belonging in a safe and welcoming environment.

Tabloid Sports is an important part of our school culture and a fun way for our students to live out Alo – ‘A’alo OIS by working together, supporting one another, and paddling forward as one kura.
